Bodrum Castle is a historical fortification located in southwest Turkey in the port city of Bodrum, built from 1402 onwards, by the Knights of St John as the Castle of St. Peter or Petronium. The castle was completed in the late 15th century, only to be taken over by the Islamic Ottoman Empire in 1523. The chapel was converted to a mosque, and a minaret was added. The castle remained under the empire for almost 400 years. After remaining empty following World War I, in the early 1960s, the castle became the home for the award-winning Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology. In 2016 it was inscribed in the Tentative list of World Heritage Sites in Turkey.

You can easily reach it by following the Pedasa sign you will see when you arrive in Konacık on the Ortakent road. Pedasa houses stone tumulus tomb monuments that can be dated to about three thousand years ago and that you cannot see anywhere else in Anatolia. You can reach the ancient city by car or on foot. The ancient city is also included in the walking routes in the region. The location of Pedesa, which is accepted as the capital of the Leleges in ancient Caria, whose mystery is still unsolved, was found based on the information given by the Historian Herodotus. The ancient city and its Leleg Tombs are spread over a very large area from Torba to Biteze with farm houses and landscaped agricultural terraces. Herodotus tells about the heroism of the Pedasanians during the Persian invasions of Caria. This information shows how powerful the city was in the 6th-5th centuries BC. During the excavations, the Temple of Athena, which was mentioned by the ancient writers, the holy road and the Acropolis of the city were unearthed. Late Byzantine structures in the acropolis create some confusion. The round-planned Leleg tombs that can be seen around are truly unique.

The Pedasa Grave monuments, which have survived to the present day in the best condition of the 8 cities of the Leleg people, are located in nature, on high hills where you can see the Bodrum bays with a bird's eye view. Located in the acropolis of the ancient city and BC. Housing structures dating back to 600 BC are quite interesting. Pedasa is an ancient city that history and nature enthusiasts must visit. You can reach Torba via Pedasa by walking among the pine trees.
